A top priority for Smart Start is increasing the quality of early care and education. The goal is to promote high-quality early care that is child-focused, family-friendly, and fair to providers. Decades of research demonstrate that high-quality, developmentally appropriate early childhood programs produce short- and long-term positive effects on children’s cognitive and social development.

The Smart Start Quality Enhancement program increases the quality of early care and education locally by providing technical assistance and training opportunities for local child care providers to meet licensing requirements, improve or maintain high quality, and provide sound, research-based, and developmentally-appropriate care for the youngest members of our community.

Smart Start Partnership for Children partners with the Children and Family Resource Center to provide these important services in our community.
